Beau Is Afraid

Ari Aster is back with his latest feature, Beau Is Afraid, following the horror hit Hereditary and the darkly psychological Midsommar. This time, Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix plays the titular Beau.

The eponymous character embarks on a surreal odyssey home after his mother suddenly dies, confronting his greatest fears along the way. The film also stars Driving Miss Daisy’s Patti LuPone, Parker Posey, Stephen McKinley Henderson, and Zoe Lister-Jones.

Joaquin Phoenix

Joaquin Phoenix stars in the upcoming A24 film Beau Is Afraid. This film is directed by Ari Aster, the writer/director behind the critically-acclaimed horror movies Hereditary and Midsommar.

The film is said to follow one of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs over multiple decades. The plot will take the audience through a mixture of live action and surreal backdrops.

Phoenix will be joined by an all-star cast including Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Patti LuPone, Kylie Rogers, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Hayley Squires, and Denis Menochet. The movie is rated R for strong violent content, sexual content, and language.

Stephen McKinley Henderson

Stephen McKinley Henderson is an American actor who has a wealth of stage credits. He originated the role of Pops in August Wilson’s Fences on Broadway and has worked in various Off-Broadway productions.

He has also appeared in numerous television shows and films including Paramount’s Oscar nominated Fences starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis.

A veteran of the stage, Henderson trained at Juilliard and later served as a resident of the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis for several years.

He has won a number of awards, and his work has been featured on stages throughout the United States and abroad. Henderson shares his skills with students of all ages, both in workshops and master classes. He has a strong passion for storytelling and believes that it can change lives.

Armen Nahapetian

Armen Nahapetian is one of the stars of Ari Aster’s new film Beau Is Afraid. This is a third film for the writer-director who helmed Hereditary and Midsommar before, and it’s already one of 2023’s most anticipated movies.

As the title suggests, the movie is based on a 2011 short film that Aster wrote and directed. It follows Phoenix’s character Beau as he tries to visit his mother for what is a very strange trip.

The trailer shows a paranoid man, Beau (Phoenix), nervously planning to visit his mother, but the journey turns into a series of calamities. From a car crash to getting stuck in a mental hospital, the movie will take viewers through the surreal world of Beau’s anxiety.

Featuring Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Patti LuPone, Parker Posey, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Denis Menochet, Kylie Rogers, and Armen Nahapetian, the film looks to be a petrifying journey. The release date is April 21st.

Patti LuPone

During her time on Broadway, Patti LuPone has racked up numerous Tony Award nominations. She’s also a two-time Grammy Award winner and an American Theater Hall of Fame inductee.

She has also appeared on the West End stage in London as Moll in The Cradle Will Rock and Fantine in Les Miserables. Her performances there as well as in the United States have widened her fan base, and she has earned several Laurence Olivier Awards.

Her first love is the theatre, and her career has included a wide range of musicals and stage performances as well as film and television appearances. She won a Tony Award for her portrayal of Eva Peron in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita on Broadway, and she has starred in several television series including Life Goes On, LBJ: The Early Years, Driving Miss Daisy, Witness, and Frasier.
